In the News…

Tracy Conner is a Linguist and Assistant Professor in the School of Communication at Northwestern University. Using linguistic tools, Dr. Conner’s scholarship focuses on two things:

1. Confronting issues of linguistic (in)justice addressing topics from Gaslighting to linguistic equity for Black Americans.

2. Studying the joys of Black American communicative practices from the stage, to the classroom, the screen, media and the Amen corner.

Gaslighting is psychological manipulation --mediated through communication-- that invites someone to doubt their own reality.

In my research I have found the key to disarming gaslighting, and in my own life, I’ve learned to escape the trap. I’d love nothing more than to help you navigate your path to victorious living.

Dr. Conner’s experience as a certified speech pathologist and expertise in the syntax and morphosyntax of Black American English has led to the synthesis of important criteria for identifying disorder within difference for Black American Children.
